Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Brightwater Research Centre, our Continence Lead - Research will collaborate with the study team and be responsible for managing the specialist continence services for the Continence and Disability Study. This study aims to improve independence and quality of life and reduce the cost of care, for the Insurance Commission of Western Australia clients with catastrophic injuries, through enhanced assessment of continence needs and delivery of services.

This role includes responsibility for clinical assessment and plans, liaising with external continence providers and the Insurance Commission with a focus on improving care delivery. You will also be responsible for the collation of data and reporting in collaboration with the Study staff.

This position is being recruited on a full-time (75 hours per fortnight) or a part-time (37.5 hours per fortnight) fixed term basis until December 2022. You will initially be based out of our Osborne Park Head Office until mid-2022 when we’ll be relocating to a new, state-of-the-art building in Inglewood.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Professional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional
  • A Master’s or Postgraduate qualification specialising in continence
  • Proven experience in a clinical lead position and the ability to collaborate with the Study Coordinator, Steering Committee, and key stakeholders to ensure milestones, deliverables, and key performance indicators of the Study are achieved
  • Advanced clinical expertise and experience working with client’s living with a disability
  • Working knowledge of supporting or leading a research project or study
  • Ability to confidently facilitate education and training opportunities around continence to improve best practice clinical knowledge for ICWA clients, families, and external care providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and implement change in a healthcare environment in line with operational and strategic goals
  • Sound report writing skills, providing evidence-based reports for ICWA and the Study, including recommendations regarding continence related assistive technology, continence aids, and referrals to clinical specialty services
  • The ability to organise and prioritise complex and changing tasks to meet deadlines and use resources effectively, safely, and efficiently.
